It’s been a crazy few days, but I had the privilege to attend one of the premieres of The Lion King at the @elcapitanthtre in #hollywood this past Thursday. I can’t wait for you all to hear and see the hard work everyone did to make this film. . Much love to all of my musician colleagues who sonically poured their hearts into every note 🙂 This definitely was one of my favorite and most unforgettable recording session dates in Los Angeles. . If you’d like to hear us performing on the score, @hanszimmer soundtrack is now available digitally on all major streaming platforms, and will be released physically on the 19th. . Quick Rant: . Thanks for all of the support on my lion king announcement. It really means a lot 🙂 . Amidst all of the craziness that is my life, I’d love to have my collection of handmade shoes come to life. With less than 24 hours left to meet our minimum manufacturing goal, I’d really appreciate your support. I can finally post about this! . . I was absolutely thrilled and honored to record in the orchestra for the new @lionking this past April! In my 11 years of playing professionally in Los Angeles, the two weeks we spent pouring our souls into each note was something I will never forget. . . I really feel like the sound you hear from the orchestra, primarily made up of musicians of color from all over the United States, added something to the mix that is irrefutable. Among the ranks are some of the most talented African American professional musicians I’ve ever worked with, and I’m so excited to finally see it all come together at the premiere on July 11th. Not to mention, our entire 8 piece viola section was made up of all African American professional violists who had to compete with a sea of violins and Celli, and all 8 of us CAME to WORK! 🥰😍 . . @hanszimmer has been a compositional idol of mine since the days of his original score for the Lion King, and my absolute favorite of his, The Prince of Egypt. His sense of humor, mixed with his overall strive to create a product of excellence was inspirational to see as a film composer myself. I enjoyed our brief conversation on his score for the Prince of Egypt. I don’t think he knows how much that soundtrack changed my life, compositionally and musically. . . What I must say is that these sessions were highly out of the ordinary of how things are normally done in the studios in Los Angeles. I wish I could divulge more about that, but don’t want to risk the backlash of this industry we call Hollywood, lol! However, by the end of the two weeks, we were all family and you will hear this in the performance we gave on the soundtrack. . . A much needed shoutout goes to @bbtastetickler for being such a concise, musical and poised concertmaster. She really is a undeniable force in terms of leadership and artistry. . . Other shoutouts go to Peter Rotter ( @encompassmusic ) for putting together a fantastic orchestra as well as @stephonstrings who also brought musicians to the table who were ready for the task. . . Looking forward to more musical adventures 🥰 #lionking

The little kid in me is SOOOO excited about buying this early birthday gift! Can’t wait to try it out :) I have lots of music to finish writing, but I can’t wait for my writing breaks lol 😍 #mortalkombat

I had a great time performing with @johnlegend at the @hollywoodbowl for our Hollywood Bowl Orchestra opening night concert! We even had @common join us for our last number “Glory”. Thus starts a very fun summer season :) #musicianlife
